If you’ve been following my journey over the past year, you’ll know a few things about me:
- I’ve “burned the boat” and began working for myself
- I’ve embraced minimalism
- I’ve discovered Udemy
You’ve probably heard me talking about Udemy, and my online courses that I’ve been developing and selling on this website. When I published my first course back in January of this year, I didn’t realize what I was in for. I was simply looking for a way to spread my knowledge and expertise in the web design field, and to hopefully diversify my income streams. In eight months, I’ve published 3 courses, working on a fourth right now, and have attracted nearly 6,500 students! Needless to say, it’s been a wild success.
Passive Income & Pacific Islands
My goal with online courses was to create a decent source of passive income, and I could confidently say that since January I’ve consistently made more passive income each month. The amount of money it was making me wasn’t overly impressive, but it was still passive income!
However, when I launched my latest course at the beginning of August (Code a Responsive Website with Twitter Bootstrap 3), something crazy happened.
A lot of people starting buying my courses. Every day. Every night. I would wake up and check my inbox to see that numerous people were signing up for my new course while I was sleeping. In fact, in one single day, the sales I made blasted through my record month!
Now we’re at the end of August, with sales still coming in (although slower, now that the hype of the course launch is over) and I can pay for much more than a utility bill. Soon, we’re heading out to Hawaii for a vacation, and my passive income from August alone has easily paid for our plane tickets & accommodations for the duration of our stay.
It’s Your Turn
Now, I’m not writing this to brag—there are many bloggers & internet people out there who are making way more passive income than I am right now—I just wanted to share my successes with you and to possibly inspire you to experiment with passive income.
I know you must be passionate about something, or at least very good at something, perhaps you know quite a bit about a particular field. It could be anything, here are some ideas:
- Accounting
- Makeup design
- Unicycling
- Painting
- Web design
- Speaking a foreign language
- Welding
- Yoga
- Auditioning for Acting Gigs
- Travel Tips for South America
If you are good at something, or have a particular skill, you can teach it. I suggest you sign up for Udemy and give it a go! Not only can you share your amazing skill with the world, but you can make some serious passive income while doing so.
Aloha!
